The Brentwood Fire Department offers the Knox-HomeBox, a 90-day loan program to our residents who have a temporary special need or physical disability preventing them from opening their front door to Brentwood fire and medical personnel in the event of an emergency. The borrowed Knox-Box is temporarily attached to the top of your door and secures your key safely inside; Brentwood Fire Department is the only agency who can open the lockbox. Using this system should alleviate the need for forced entry, possibly resulting in damage, should we need to enter your home quickly to provide medical care to you or your family. This 90-day loan program is first come, first serve. Residents with long-term needs should consider purchasing a permanent Knox-HomeBox.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY FOR THE PROGRAM
Applicants must be residents of the City of Brentwood.
Applicants must complete a program application form provided by the Brentwood Fire Department.
The program operates on a first come, first serve basis. We will keep a list of applicants so that when a box becomes available we will contact you to set up a loaned box.
Each household will be limited to 90 days of use of the loaner Knox-HomeBox. At the end of 90 days, you may reapply. In the event there is a waiting list, additional requests will be filled in the order received. Another option is to purchase your own Knox-HomeBox. If interested, please let us know, we will be glad to assist you with that process.
For Loan Program recipients, the Brentwood Fire Department will meet you at your home and install the unit free of charge.
