The Brentwood Police Department is seeking community members to serve on the Brentwood Police Canine Foundation to raise funds for establishing and supporting a K9 program.
Many law enforcement agencies use police dogs to track criminals, locate missing children and older adults, sniff out illegal materials, search buildings, and do other jobs police officers cannot do as well as a trained dog. Because of their superior sense of smell and hearing and physical capabilities, the trained law enforcement canine is a valuable supplement to police personnel.
The Brentwood police dog would provide person tracking and illegal drug detection community policing support. The goal of the program is to enhance the safety of our neighborhoods and the quality of life in our community.
To be considered for the Brentwood Police Canine Foundation you must be a citizen or work for a business in the city of Brentwood. Please complete the application by Friday, Dec. 6. Questions? Contact Major Angela Hawkins, firstname.lastname@example.org.
