Chess Class

Learning chess is a fun and engaging way to build critical thinking and reasoning skills while building social connections, plus it's fun! This class will build knowledge of the fundamental aspects of chess play starting with pure beginners. Students will learn the names and values of the chess pieces, how to move them, the basic geometry of the chess board and all the rules to play a legal game. By the end of this set of classes students will have the skills necessary to enjoy playing chess at home with friends and family, as well as pursue a lifetime of further learning in the game.

Dates: Session 1 – Tuesdays, Jan. 9-Feb. 27

Session 2 – Tuesdays, March 5-April 30 (no class March 19 or April 2)

Time: 5:30-6:30pm

Location: Brentwood Community Center

Ages: 5-10

Price: Res./Non-Res. $100 for 8 weeks (Jan. - Feb.)

Res./Non-Res. $88 for 7 weeks (March - April)
