Sidewalk Improvements Project: High School Drive
The City of Brentwood is applying for federal grant funds to construct this sidewalk improvements project. If the City receives this grant funding, we plan to design the project in 2022, buy any easements in 2023, and construct the improvements in summer 2024.
Project Limits are from Manchester Road (MO Route 100) to the north side of White Road.
The proposed project will construct improvements that will connect two schools (McGrath Elementary and Brentwood High School) with the surrounding neighborhood, and increase the safety and comfort of pedestrians traversing a segment of High School Drive. Those improvements include:
- Replace the existing narrow, non-compliant sidewalk on the east side of High School Drive with 5-foot-wide ADA-compliant concrete sidewalk. The new sidewalk will generally have 3 feet of separation from the roadway in the form of a treelawn.
- Install curb ramps at Powell Avenue, Madge Avenue, Harrison Avenue and White Avenue (north and south side) that meet current ADA standards.
- Provide crosswalk striping at all intersections to clearly delineate the pedestrian path. Crosswalk markings will be located so that the curb ramps are within the extension of the crosswalk markings.
This project ties into MoDOT’s Manchester Road project at the southern limits and crosses/ties into the Litzsinger Road improvements built in 2017.
