On April 4, Brentwood voters will be asked to decide on Proposition M, an additional 3% sales tax on adult-use (recreational) marijuana.
The language on the ballot will read as follows:
"Shall the City of Brentwood be authorized to impose an additional sales tax in an amount not to exceed three percent on all tangible personal property retail sales of adult-use marijuana sold in the City?"
A "YES" vote will impose a three percent (3%) sales tax on adult-use, recreational marijuana purchases made within Brentwood.
A "NO" vote will not impose a 3% sales tax on adult-use, recreational marijuana purchases made within Brentwood.

This is for adult-use (recreational) marijuana. The Missouri Constitution allows municipalities to impose an additional sales tax of up to 3% on retail sales of adult-use marijuana with voter approval. Medical marijuana retail sales are exempt from the proposed tax.
At this time, there are no adult-use marijuana dispensaries in the City of Brentwood. If a majority of Brentwood voters approve Proposition M, this approval would allow the City of Brentwood to collect the additional sales tax from adult-use marijuana dispensaries if any such dispensaries are established in Brentwood in the future.
