[ARCHIVED] Lee Wynn Trail Repair Project is Underway

Construction Work 2023

May 24 Update: Castle Contracting completed work to repair all slope failure areas. Decorative fence panels were replaced to restore the fencing. The grading work and new trail will be completed in June. The anticipated project completion date is targeted for mid-July.

Flood events from July 2022 eroded the creek banks along Black Creek north of Litzsinger Road. This caused damage to the Lee Wynn Trail and the decorative fence on the Litzsinger Road bridge. The City of Brentwood has been working with its contractor, Castle Contracting, on design, permitting, and planned construction of repairs to the slope segments along the trail. The proposed repairs will satisfy the permit requirements of the Army Corps of Engineers and Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District (MSD).

The planned improvements include removal and replacement of the failed trail pavement, grading of the slope, select tree removals, and construction of Scour-Lok units to secure the bottom of the slope near Black Creek. The tree clearing and fence repairs began March 23, to be followed by additional repair work.

During the grading and repair process, Rosalie Avenue will be limited to one-way traffic. Motorists can expect traffic impacts for approximately six to eight weeks. Parking restrictions on Rosalie Avenue will be in place between Litzsinger Road to just north of Eulalie Avenue to allow for traffic flow and construction activities.

The Public Works Department looks forward to the construction repair work and restoration of the Lee Wynn Trail.
