Since 2017, the Brentwood Fire Department has offered the Knox-HomeBox Loan Program to the Brentwood community. The 90-day loan program is available to our residents who have a temporary special need or physical disability preventing them from opening their front door to Brentwood fire and medical personnel in the event of an emergency. Brentwood Fire Department crew members will temporarily attach the borrowed Knox-HomeBox to the top of your door and secure your key safely inside; the Brentwood Fire Department is the only agency that can open the lockbox. Using this system should alleviate the need for forced entry should we need to enter your home quickly to provide medical care to you or your family. This 90-day loan program is available on a first come, first served basis. Residents with long-term needs should consider purchasing a permanent Knox-HomeBox.

Qualifications for the Knox-HomeBox
  1. Applicants must be residents of the City of Brentwood.
  2. Applicants must complete a program application form provided by the Brentwood Fire Department.
  3. The program operates on a first come, first served basis. We will keep a waiting list of applicants.
  4. Each household will be limited to 90 days of use of the loaner Knox-HomeBox. At the end of 90 days, you may reapply. In the event there is a waiting list, additional requests will be filled in the order received. Another option is to purchase your own Knox-HomeBox. Please let us know if you are interested in this option, and we will be glad to assist you.
